Orly Airport

Orly Airport serves the people of France in addition to many other French airports. Orly stands out because of its location, as well as the sheer number of passengers that fly into and out of the airport on a daily basis.

1. Orly Airport Location

Orly Airport is located in both Orly as well as Villeneuve-le-Roi which is located south of Paris in France. The airport is situated in a very convenient place because people from the Paris area can get on a flight to cities all over Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Caribbean, and North America. The airport itself covers almost six square miles and encompasses seven communes in addition to the two departments. The airport is managed by Aeroports de Paris, the same management of the other two large airports as well as several smaller ones.

Orly Airport recently underwent a revamping of the site and when that happened much of the business was transferred to Charles de Gaulle International Airport. Despite this shift in where passengers fly in and out of, Orly Airport is still one of the busiest French airports for domestic business and the second busiest where the number of passengers are concerned. Simply put, Orly Airport is large and is in the business of serving passengers who are traveling locally as well as internationally. If you live or will be traveling in the south of Paris or the Villeneuve-le-Roi area or areas not far from these regions, this will be the airport of choice for you.

2. Airlines at Orly Airport

There are two different wings at the Orly Airport. The south and west terminals are where all the different airlines fly in and out of, and the available airlines can easily be broken down by what companies can be found in each wing. Of course, the arrangement of the airlines in the wings is subject to change at any time, and before assuming that an airline is still in a particular terminal, you should contact the airport or airline directly.

In the south terminal, Aerocondor, Aigle Azur, and Airlinair airlines can be found in addition to Air Algerie, Air Berlin, and Air Burkina. If those are not the airlines of your choice, the south terminal is also home to Air Caraibes, Air Comores International, and Air Europa. In addition to these airlines, there are 28 more airlines that come into and depart from the south terminal.

In the west terminal, there are even more airlines that come into and depart from Orly Airport. Airlines include Air France, CCM Airlines, Clickair, Delta Air Lines, Iberia, Tap Portugal, and Twin Jet. This is the smaller of the two terminals, but it is just as busy and will likely see the addition of even more airlines in the future.

As you can see, between the two terminals there are many different airlines to choose from, so it really doesn't matter where you are flying to, you'll be able to find an airline that goes there. This adds to the appeal of Orly Airport, as their airlines fly just about anywhere.

3. Traveling to Orly Airport

Traveling to and from an airport is often one of the most stressful things that you have to do when you travel. Traveling to Orly Airport is not all that difficult; you simply need to know where you are going. Conveniently, Orly Airport is connected to the A6 Autoroute. In addition, the airport is also connected to the RER B train that goes to Paris, as well as several other places at Antony by the Orlyval shuttle. This is a great way to go because the Orlyval is free of charge when you travel from one terminal to another. One more way to travel to Orly Airport is via the RER C train at Rungis.

If you prefer to take buses, then you'll have no problem taking advantage of the Air France coaches, the RATP Orlybus, and 283 bus lines. In addition to these bus options, you will also be able to take the Jetbus line, which goes to Villejuif-Louis Aragon station on Paris Metro Line 7. If a bus doesn't work for you, than a taxi might do, though this is obviously the most costly way to get to Orly Airport, or anywhere else for that matter. A more economical solution may be to take a taxi to one of the bus or train stations and then take the train or bus to the airport.

4. Accompanying Traveling Passengers to Terminals

Depending on where you have been traveling over the last few years, you may be wondering whether or not you'll be able to accompany a departing passenger right to their gate. Or, perhaps you are the departing passenger and your friend or family member would like to accompany you to the terminal. Luckily, you will be able to escort or be escorted right to your terminal when you travel through Orly Airport. Orly Airport makes it really simple to escort your guests to their terminal, and with the short-term car parks, they even make it easy to get in and out of the airport in short order.

One of the fastest and most convenient ways to escort a passenger right to their terminal is by parking in one of the short-term car parks. These car parks are meant specifically for those that will not be spending a lot of time in or around the airport. The short-term car parks are great for those who will be staying anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours because they give the passenger, as well as someone who is accompanying the passenger, fast, direct access to the terminals. There are several car parks that you may want to choose from including Paris Orly Quest, Paris CDG 2, Paris Orly Sud, Paris Orly CDG 3, and Paris CDG 1.

5. Making Flight Reservations

Do you need to make your reservation for your flight coming into or going out of Orly Airport? If so, you'll probably want to make your reservation ahead of time, and you can do that directly through the airlines. Many people still choose to make all their reservations right at the airport, but if you would rather not hassle with this, you don't have to. Just about all the airlines today have online flight reservations, which will allow you to view all the flights on the days that you need to fly, and you can book those that best accommodate you. Making reservations online is really handy because there is no need to leave home, no need to deal with cranky agents; all you have to do is log on from the comfort of your own home and pay by credit card.

If you don't like to make reservations online, you don't have to. You can actually call the airline of your choice and make the reservations over the phone. When you do this, you'll also need to pay by credit card, but you can do so with a live agent who will walk you through the process of booking your flight so you are sure you are paying for the flight that you really need.

6. Traveling with Children at Orly Airport

Traveling with children is never easy and generally takes some careful planning. To make your traveling easier, you should be aware of all the rules, regulations, and facilities that are in the airport when you travel with children. Luckily, there are changing tables in all the airport bathrooms so you can easily tend to the needs of your children before you board any flight. If children are traveling alone, the details need to be arranged with the airline as each airline has their own procedure of boarding and tending to the needs of unaccompanied minors.

Children between two and 12 years of age will need a seat of their own. These seats can often be purchased for a lesser amount than the seat prices that an adult would pay. Children who have their own seats are entitled to the same number of checked bags as all other passengers. Children who are under the age of two can be seated on the lap of their parent during the flight. Traveling in the last four to six weeks of pregnancy is not advised, and those that do travel at that time will need to let their airline know.
